India Uncut [a terrific blog] pointed me to Suyog Gaidhani's woes with an advertising agency called Workaholiks [don't bother clicking this link as it goes nowhere now]. Workaholiks, essentially, stole an image right off of Gaidhani's website and used it in one of their campaigns.
Tsk, tsk, tsk … Copyright infringement is huge in the US. Pilfering images off the net or otherwise would have you standing in front of a judge or cutting a huge fat check in multiples of what you would have originally paid for by simply licensing it legally. In India, thanks to Gaidhani's persistence things may just change [fingers crossed] for the better.
In any event, I applaud Suyog's resolve. The Rs. 2000 he finally received from the duplicitous agency, Suyog donated to his favorite charity. Bravo!
