The New York Times has an article about Mary Ellen Mark's seminal photo documentary essay, Falkland Road. Nearly 25 years after it was completed, the images are being shown again in a couple of New York galleries.
“When Ms. Mark was working, AIDS had not yet surfaced. Anyone coming to these photographs for the first time will surely be struck by their almost overwhelming vitality. Anyone who also saw them in 1981 will feel a remembered wonder and a sense of foreboding that is new.”
The book, Falkland Road, was out of print until Mary Ellen Mark had it reissued and published again.
